Business Analyst (Senior)

Location: Calgary AB Canada

Duration: 9 months - possibility for extension

We are urgently recruiting for a Business Analyst with senior experience to join our team with a client in the Energy Industry to join their team for approximately a 12-month contract. The successful applicant will have 10+ years with infrastructure and or cybersecurity and or identity and access management and or enterprise application development including software data exchanges interfacing and or Process control systems and PowerBI and Spotfire. If candidate has experience in multiple areas, it will be an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Makes decisions and recommendations on highly technical or complex issues and without formal guidelines or precedents and exercises resourcefulness and ingenuity to interpret policy
  • Structuring information and data and business systems processes
  • May oversee a variety of projects at a time.
  • Conducts/facilitates user requirements/user story/backlog development sessions
  • Will document assumptions and constraints
  • Reviews and approves business process models and system data flow maps
  • Validates and approves requirements with project teams and business users,
  • Leads the business in prioritizing and re-prioritizing requirements Builds and maintains relationships with the project business stakeholders and team members
  • Track’s requirements and deliverables to ensure that business requirements are being met
  • Leads definition of requirements with project teams and business users, translating business needs into documented requirements and use cases that can be used by developers to create software, by application specialists to configure software, or by infrastructure specialists to develop technical solutions.

    To be successful, you will have:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical processes into business language, and clearly communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understanding of how-to best leverage data and analytics to improve business processes
  • Accountable for documenting and analyzing business system requirements, information, and data in such a way that the business team members understand and approve them, ensuring the solution meets the business requirements.
  • Strong understanding of business processes, structuring data, analyzes complex business problems recommended.
  • Working knowledge of system and program specifications.
  • Business systems analyst will have strong skills taking disparate business data assembling/structuring it to help guide decision making.



Qualification / Education / Experience:

  • 5-10 years min experience needed in a direct or related field
  • Undergraduate Degree in a related field / Degree and years of experience – 5- 10 years of BA experience
  • Strong competencies in Power BI & Spotfire
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with KPI/report & dashboard development/analysis
  • Proficiency in (Dax, Python, or R)
  • Working knowledge with SAP (and JDE/QBYTE) in the Oil & Gas Industry

Location / Travel / Length of Contract:

  • Calgary AB
  • Contract length TBD (7 months expected)

Work Environment:

General office work environment and constant exposure to computer display. Daily interaction with office personnel, managers, and other team members.
