On behalf of our client, a world leading energy company with a strong presence in Australia, Brunel are currently seeking for a Subsea Control Engineer to join the Perth office on a 12 months contract with a potential view to extend.

The Subsea Controls Engineer will be a key technical member of the project team in execution tasked with delivering a Subsea Battery System. This is a high impact, unique and challenging opportunity, making use of groundbreaking new technology to supply local electrical power at the seabed.

  • The design of subsea control system electrical, electronics, communication, and software architectures.
  • Development of new technology and overseeing vendor technology qualification
  • Support of detailed subsea controls system definition, engineering, testing, mobilization, offshore installation and acceptance testing.
  • Interface management
  • Working interface issues with existing projects
  • Managing subsea controls equipment during operations, cybersecurity and interfaces.
  • Critically analysing conflicting priorities between the existing subsea production system and project delivery to make the best business decisions
  • Understand, align and communicate customer requirements relative to business needs
  • Lead problem resolution, change opportunities; may develop innovative solutions
  • Anticipate resistance to changes and applies strategies to mitigate
  • Motivate others to take action supporting the problem resolution, process improvement, or change

  • Prior experience supporting the subsea control system definition, engineering, testing, mobilisation, offshore installation and acceptance testing.
  • Interface Management (Experience with subsea vendors is highly desirable)
  • Experience in the design of subsea control system electrical, electronics, communication and software architectures.
  • Experience developing new technology and overseeing vendor technology qualification
  • Availability to travel to Europe to the vendors facilities (if conditions allow)
  • Frequent communication with the project team in Europe
