About this role: Corporate Controller

We are looking for a Corporate Controller in the GTA area. This is an opportunity to join a start-up company in the vertical farming space, an industry that is currently valued at over $3 billion. This is an opportunity to join a company that is changing the future of farming as we know it, allowing the food production industry to thrive year around without geographic or seasonal concerns.

This position will be fully remote to begin with, but there will be a requirement to visit the office from time to time as the company grows.

  • Lead the implementation of new ERP system (Microsoft Business Central), working closely with the consulting partner
  • Work closely with the company’s outsourced accounting partner to complete financial statements and engage with the external auditor to audit all prior year’s results
  • Support the business as activity quickly ramps up to commercialization. The company’s first owned facility is opening early 2022 which means that staffing and transaction volume/complexity will grow quickly
  • This role will be highly autonomous and influential which calls for someone with strong problem-solving skills, ownership of their work, a sense of urgency and a desire for independence in their work

  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • CPA designation required
  • Preference given to those with experience in public company reporting, manufacturing, and large accounting firms
  • Experience implementing ERP systems (MS Business Central)
  • Prior experience in a start-up environment is preferred
