On behalf of our client, a High Profile Global Energy Corporation, Brunel have a fantastic 12-month Contract opportunity for a Lead Buyer within a minimum of 10 years' Contract & Procurement experience.

The Lead Buyer function will involve supplier relationship and performance management, management of the end to end Source-to-Pay (S2C) / Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes including supplier sourcing, supplier selection & negotiation, purchasing, expediting, warranty claims, PO close-out, spend management.

  • Working closely managing Buyers, Expeditor and Buyer Support Team for each discipline
  • It is essential that as a Lead role these disciplines maintain total integrity and efficiency so as to maintain a high level of confidence from customers
  • Proactive involvement to drive continuous improvement
  • Periodic and ad hoc analysis and reporting to be maintained with trends, exception and high-lights/low-lights be identified, and the appropriate strategies implemented to correct, improve or maintain the status quo
  • Manage P2P activities in an efficient and economic manner
  • Maintain the continuity of supply of materials to support production operations
  • Offer positive input to the strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting for the supply chain environment
  • Ensure that compliance and audit requirements is maintained at all times
  • Manage and/or participate in special projects as deemed appropriate to ensure optimum performance of associated P2P processes.
  • Provide adequate advice to colleagues within the team, as well as with interfacing departments from a procurement perspective
  • Identify issues and provide solutions to optimise the procurement processes in line with the relevant Contracts & Procurement procedures
  • Source local suppliers or Original Equipment Manufacturer spares and bulks (where possible) to ensure Australian Industry Participation objectives are being considered and implemented in all procurement activities
  • Pursue cost saving opportunities where practical
  • This role may be required to undertake domestic travel for sourcing activities and dispute resolutions as need arises



  • Minimum of 10 years Contracts & Procurement experience
  • Essential to possess superior SAP skills (MM module) and a good awareness of the functionality of both AP and PM modules
  • Proven high-level working knowledge of Procurement Principles, strategies, processes, analytics and philosophies in the specific areas of end-to-end P2P function
  • A solid understanding of the overall Supply Chain processes demonstrating experiences and skills in areas such as Inventory & Material Management, Cataloguing (Master Data), Contracts, Expediting, Warehousing, Logistics and Freight Forwarding
  • Procurement is the focal function for suppliers, customers and interfacing departments. It is therefore essential that the candidate can demonstrate a good understanding of processes and functionality of interfacing departments such as Operations, Planning & Maintenance, Quality, Finance, Projects and Drilling
  • Ability to articulate confidently and clearly through superior written and oral communication skills
  • Direct supervisory experience of a small to mid-size team
  • Ability to work under pressure managing multi-task scenarios
  • Resilient and enthusiastic within a highly agile working environment
  • Ability to resolve issues independently and proactively with minimal support
  • Ability to build and maintain a positive team with ongoing communications, coaching and mentoring
  • Advanced skills using MS Office packages, ie Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines of often multiple tasks



  • 12-month Perth based contract
  • Excellent negotiable rate!
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required
