On behalf of our client, a World Leader within the Energy / Oil & Gas industry, Brunel is presently seeking a skilled Management Accountant for an urgent 3 month contract located in luxurious CBD offices!

As a member of the Finance Team you will providing Management Accounting services to the Company’s Australian group assets, which includes both operated and non-operated Joint Ventures. This role provides internal reporting oversight with a focus on actual and budgeted costs and provides forecasting and reporting.

  • Coordinate preparation of budget / forecast for assigned Departments for inclusion in the relevant Work Program and Budget documents
  • Coordinate the annual budget in line with the guideline/ timetable
  • Develop SAP-BPC inputs
  • Submit quarterly forecasts for relevant periods of expenditure
  • Maintain foreign currency views
  • Develop variance commentary on material differences
  • Monitor financial aspects within the contracting process for relevant Departments
  • Oversight of financial risks in contracts
  • Participate in contract evaluation process
  • Understand and communicate finance risks in contracts and obtain negotiated outcomes that meet Company requirements
  • Proactively manage issues in contracts
  • Management reporting with the support of the offshore Management Accounting Team
  • Maintain and improve effectiveness and efficiency of enterprise reporting suite to meet internal Managers’ requirements (SAP-BW, PowerBI)
  • Deliver inputs for Head Office and management reporting with variance commentary on material differences
  • Prepare suitable inputs to support asset approval and capitalisation



  • Relevant degree qualification in Accounting
  • CA / CPA / CIMA or similar international recognition
  • 3 - 5 years post-graduate experience
  • Previous experience within Oil & Gas will be well regard
  • Experience with SAP – demonstrably capable – FI/CO PS module with some knowledge of MM, BW and other modules
  • Ability to work independently and plan activities to meet tight timeframes and execute to same targets while dealing with competing demands
  • Ability to identify root cause of issues, position for Finance outcomes to be met, while working collaboratively on solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to build relationships – especially with non-Finance team members
