Brunel is currently searching for a Manager Mine Technical Services for a direct hire role with our client in Boron, CA.

We are seeking a Manager who will lead the Mine Technical Services group for an open pit mine. You will be responsible for leadership and direct of a team of engineers and technicians who provide technical and systems solutions to develop mine plans and mining strategy.


  • Manages day to day and strategic direction of mine engineering including, long range and LOM(Life Of Mine) planning, geology, hydrogeology and geotechnical functions.
  • Creates an inclusive work environment and works with employees to ensure the work and behaviors of the team align with Company values.
  • Management and execution of mine development projects to improve safety, optimize assets, ensure the mine meets its annual production plans and ensure future expansion of mine operations.
  • Manages daily mine engineering functions with mine operations.
  • Plans and supervises the work of a staff of professional engineers and technicians to accomplish mine planning scenarios and analysis.
  • Reviews technical feasibility of proposed solutions to engineering problems and personally helps in solving difficult technical problems.
  • Optimizes the deployment of the technical workforce as priorities change by managing mine site and corporate requirements.
  • Oversees mine design, economic evaluation, cost estimating, productivity forecasting, equipment selection and production scheduling on a wide range of studies from pre-scoping to feasibility studies.
  • Incorporates, investigates and develops best practice in areas of property evaluation, mine engineering design and scheduling, and alternate mining technology.



  • Bachelor’s degree minimum, preferably in mine engineering or geoscience.
  • 10 + years’ experience leading mine technical teams in a senior leadership role
  • Previous experience within management or supervision of a mine operations team.
  • Robust and proven HSE record.
  • Knowledge of the key drivers in the mining industry and should possess project management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills with ability to present projects and annual production updates to senior management
