We’re hiring an Internal Control Analyst for our client, a cannabis product-development company. They offer a range of services, which include numerous types of proprietary extraction, analytical testing, formulation as well as white label product development. This individual will report to the Director of Financial Reporting and oversee the Company’s internal control structure to ensure accurate and efficient processing of the Company’s business activities. This role will also be responsible for compliance with all relevant regulations, including IFRS/IAS.

About this role

Responsibilities

  • Implement internal control initiatives for the organization according to business needs
  • Engage management regarding changing business needs to drive development and continual improvement of the internal control framework
  • Liaise with external consultants to develop and document process for certification of disclosure controls and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Research new IFRS/IAS standards that would impact the company’s financial position and financial statements and coordinate policy solutions
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly consolidation, Financial Statements and MD&A
  • Liaise with the auditors for the quarterly/annual reviews and audits; maintain strong relationships with them to ensure IFRS compliance
  • Keep up to date on new pronouncements for tax legislation

About you

Requirements

  • Experience in a public company environment or audit of public companies
  • CPA with 4+ years’ relevant experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word in particular)
  • Strong understanding of current accounting pronouncements in IFRS
  • Proven time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
  • A high degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail
  • Criminal record check required
