About this role: Piping Stress Specialist

  • Assimilates the Project scope and the technical requirements including the applicable regulations, the Project specific Design Basis and philosophies, the applicable Specifications and International codes and standards;
  • Ensures the scope of the piping stress analysis and fatigue engineering are fully implemented and control deliverables in terms of quality, schedule & HSE as per Projects requirements;
  • Responsible for guidance & checking of the piping stress analysis and fatigue engineering activities and support design, responsible for the EPCI contractor deliverables; Interacts with contractors/vendors and other engineering disciplines as required; Reviews and approves specified contractor purchase order/subcontract packages for piping stress analysis and fatigue engineering;
  • Full understanding and the challenges with piping stress analysis and fatigue engineering, guidance and review of the support selection and design; supervises the EPCI scope Finalisation with relation to the Piping engineering discipline;
  • Aware of the 3D model progress and challenges and attends all related review;
  • Liaise as required with company’s shareholders Technical Authorities (TA) and committees, monitors material acquisition including requisitioning, fabrication, testing and transportation of the piping and valves materials;
  • Administers any management of change process (MOC) relating to the piping stress analysis and fatigue engineering;
  • Drives to obtain all necessary input required for the timely and complete progress of the piping stress analysis and fatigue engineering; drives and Reviews the Acoustic and Flow Induced vibration and Small Bore connections design.

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. (Advanced degree is desirable.);
  • 15 years of relevant experience as Piping Stress and fatigue engineering specialist in the oil and gas industry with at least 10 years demonstrated senior engineering experience in major capital offshore projects;
  • Detailed Knowledge in the Piping international Codes and Standards and Good Engineering Practices applicable to the O&G Offshore facilities;
  • In depth working knowledge of Piping stress and fatigue engineering design of piping in offshore wellhead platforms;
  • Significant experience in working with FEED/EPCI Contractors and interfacing with equipment suppliers;
  • Competent and sound material and corrosion knowledge for piping and valves and support design;
  • Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds;
  • A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant applications such as SM3D, CAESAR and other piping Engineering Tools;
  • Excellent communication / written skills and ability to work with different disciplines;
  • High awareness of safe working practices associated with design, construction, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of offshore pipelines and facilities.
