About this role: Regulatory Affairs Coordinator

Our client, a leader in an emerging sector within the food industry, is looking for a Regulatory Affairs Coordinator to join their team. We are looking for someone experienced with food regulations across Europe and China. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced evolving environment that may require them to learn new international regulations as the business grows.

  • Responsible for regulatory compliance of food product formulations, label claims, product labeling, and nutritional statements
  • Applies regulatory knowledge and references regulatory standards to ensure compliance to national and international food regulations.
  • Responsible for certification and/or adherence to organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, kosher, and other standards
  • Provides regulatory perspective for new products including labeling, claims, ingredients and identifies regulatory constraints.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for all regulatory matters and advises on regulatory requirements, including import and export requirements.
  • Well-versed in CFIA, FDA, and overseas regulations and policies and ensures ongoing compliance with food regulations.
  • Communicates relevant updates to internal stakeholders regarding food labeling regulations.
  • Leads product shelf-life studies.
  • Contributes expertise to the company’s GFSI-recognized food safety and quality management system and assists in internal auditing and HACCP plan compliance.



  • Post-secondary education in either food science, nutrition, chemistry, or another relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in the food industry, specifically regulatory, labeling and claims.
  • Experience working with clients in Europe and/or China is a strong asset.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Canadian and US food regulations.
  • Experience working with GFSI-recognized quality management systems.
  • Strong verbal and written English skills, must be able to put together accurate reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay on top of changing food regulations and learn regulations in new international markets. Must demonstrate a strong passion for continuous learning.
