Our client is a leading national Civil Contractor. They are now seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team based in South West WA. The company is offering an attractive salary package and relocation package for the successful candidate

  • Carry out engineering and design scopes of work as directed by the Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer.
  • Perform and verify designs using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods, first principles calculations, and/or current best practise engineering methods.
  • Ensures designs are compliant to relevant Australian Standards, Statutory Requirements, and Client Specifications.
  • Works in accordance with engineering and design quality processes and procedures.
  • Design in accordance with the Safety in Design philosophy.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Obtain quotations for sub-supplier equipment necessary for the manufacture of equipment/machines.
  • Issue Technical Queries and Non-Conformances as appropriate.
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering documentation as required.
  • Assist the Estimating Division to prepare tenders and quotations to clients including technical clarifications/details.
  • Obtain quotations from the supply chain as required.
  • Comply with the quality management systems.
  • Helps to enhance processes and procedures within the engineering group where possible.
  • Provide a mentor role to trainees and less experienced engineers.

Requirements

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering Design role.
  • Holds a Degree Qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering.
  • Has experience in the Mining and Resource industry.
  • Possess good mechanical engineering design skills.
  • Can operate FEA software package ANSYS and/or Strand7.
  • Ensures designs are compliant to relevant Australian Standards, Statutory Requirements, and Client Specifications.
  • Possess strong computer skills and is competent with MS Office suite.
  • Has experience with AutoDesk AutoCAD.
  • Can read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Understands quality management systems.Has excellent organisational skills.
  • Has the ability to meet deadlines.Ability to respond to a changing work environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Right to work within Australia.
