About this role

Brunel are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a mining industry leader, providing technical support using initiatives and apply engineering techniques, data analysis, improvements and defect elimination for fixed plant. The successful applicant will also lead a small team of mechanical engineers, managing their day to day work and providing ad hoc supervision to the condition monitoring team and department superintendent.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Maintain focus on team objectives and provide technical guidance to engineers
  • Provide ad hoc engineering and reliability superintendent coverage on weekends
  • Performance manage delegates and promote good team culture
  • Liaise with internal departments to provide technical solutions
  • Manage the development and execution of operational and capital projects
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis for plant downtime events
  • Ensure correct application of Health & Safety standards including Change Management
  • Monitor quality assurance of critical processes
  • Achieve targets set for defined sections of area budgets

Requirements

  • Proven fixed plant experience in an engineering / project capacity
  • Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining experience in hard rock applications
  • Prior experience with vibrating screens, centrifugal slurry pumps, conveyors and chutes
  • Strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus
  • Knowledge of mines legislations and regulations
  • Familiar with computer management systems, including SAP
  • Solid communication, planning, organisational, budgeting, scheduling and coordination skills
