Senior Network Analyst – Field Support

Permanent Position

Location: Calgary, AB

The Senior Network Analyst – Field Support will have primary responsibility for the analysis, design, plan, and implementation of various network systems including routers, switches, firewalls, WAN Accelerators, VPN, IPS, load balancers, and logging/monitoring applications. They will be engaged in both the design and implementation of new network solution projects and will be required to analyze technical needs, research, and architect solutions. The individual must have strong experience in capacity planning, the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans, network performance monitoring and root cause analysis. The successful candidate will also provide governance over design and documentation, provide technical leadership and work directly with internal clients in a support capacity.

Responsibilities

  • The role will require occasional travel to remote field locations across Canada, USA, and potentially Middle East countries.
  • Monitor and manage the following technologies to ensure the availability, reliability and responsiveness of systems and services:
  • LAN/WAN/MAN/WLAN voice and data network topologies
  • Network security infrastructure including firewalls, http filters, IDS/IPS, Azure cloud services
  • 3rd party telecom services including MPLS, VSAT, VPN, Internet, PSTN
  • Voice services including VoIP, Cellular, MSAT
  • Video Conferencing
  • Advance knowledge of management and configuration of Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama Management system
  • Knowledge of the configuration and management of Fortinet Firewalls, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiManager.
  • Understanding of OT and IoT Technologies (PLC, ICS, HMI, etc.) is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Cloud technologies
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Cisco networking solutions; LAN, WAN, switching (L2 & L3), routing (BGP, OSPF & EIGRP), data center, wireless, firewalling, VPN & MPLS
  • Proficient in IOS, IOS-XE and NX-OS
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco’s product lines including routers, Catalyst/Nexus switches, wireless solutions, WAAS, and Cisco video conferencing platforms
  • Knowledge of Cisco Unified Wireless networking
  • Knowledge of Dark Trace security appliances, configuration and monitoring is an asset
  • Familiarity with SIEM cloud monitoring services, configuring new policies, generating security reports
  • Experience in creating and defining new network architectures and explaining complex issues/situations
  • Ability to explore new ideas and make innovative contributions to existing network processes or solutions
  • Knowledge of enterprise telephone systems, and video conferencing solutions
  • Practical experience in information security, including vulnerability testing and security assessments
  • Develop a common understanding of service level expectations with the business groups and regularly review the business groups’ measures and impressions of service level delivery; work collaboratively to develop solutions to bridge the gaps
  • Develop effective business relationships between business staff and self/team members that are cordial, professional and productive
  • Ensure appropriate resources are in place to meet delivery expectations. Ensure appropriate training, knowledge-transfer takes place to meet these expectations
  • Oversee and collaborate with vendors to ensure systems and services supplied meet Precision Drilling’s business needs
  • Collaborate and work effectively with other IT teams/resources in delivering required solutions
  • Ensure frequent, concise communication with the Lead, Unified Communication regarding relevant issues related to the team, infrastructure technologies, risks, or other information as required
  • Ensure team adherence to standard IT practices/policies
  • Rotational On-Call is required

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in the field of computers
  • Minimum 10 years equivalent work experience
  • CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE certification is an asset
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) certification is an asset
  • Fortinet certification is an asset
  • Azure / Microsoft Express Route experience
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, OSPF, IMAP, LDAP, SMB, SSH, VPN, NAT, IPSec, VoIP, etc.)
  • Considerable hands-on network management expertise, including setup, troubleshooting and network security
  • Expert level knowledge of networking layers 2 and 3
  • Knowledge of network security infrastructure including firewalls, http filters, IDS/IPS, Cloud Services
  • Hardware upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting skills
  • Darktrace Security monitoring, administration, and configuration knowledge is an asset
  • IBM QRadar SIEM monitoring, administration, and configuration knowledge is an asset
