About this role: Senior R&D Engineer

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Sr. R&D Engineer. This position focuses on technical support for R&D, prototyping, product development, and product testing.

Responsibilities

  • Identify key business opportunities and clearly define the customer needs and problem statement
  • Guide the conceptualization of new technologies, methods, materials, processes or products
  • Lead small cross-functional team to demonstrate feasibility and utility of potential solutions
  • Create and validate project assumptions necessary to understand the risk and cost of new development projects
  • Formulate strategic recommendations to business leadership regarding funding decisions of new development projects
  • Partner closely with marketing and business-development to create and validate the business case of each opportunity
  • Oversee the investigation and evaluation of new and existing technologies
  • Direct the development of new concepts from initial design to funded PDP kick-off
  • Manage feasibility studies (bench and pre-clinical) of potential solutions to determine if capable of meeting key performance requirements
  • Coordinate the activities of outside suppliers, vendors, and consultants to meet unique project needs

  • B.S Mechanical, Bio-Medical, Material Science or Equivalent. M.S. desired, but not required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D, product development. Experience in the medical device industry strongly desired.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in new product development for medical devices
  • Record of critical thinking (problem identification/solving) and innovation
  • Eager to learn (technology, clinical, competitive landscape)
  • Ability to work with multiple cross functional team members.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical device regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of endovascular procedures and technologies preferred
  • Metals, guidewire design and manufacturing processes knowledge preferred
