About this role: Senior Well Test Engineer

On behalf of our client, a Global O&G Operator, Brunel are currently looking for a Senior Well Test Engineer to join the Drilling Department at the Perth Office. This role will be responsible for Planning, designing and implementing DST programs for 2 x exploration wells; and injection test and possible interference test programs for 2 x CCS wells.

The role includes rig visits, tender creation and evaluation, Safety Case Revision support including HAZOP/HAZID/Validation etc.

  • Provides overall support to DST and CCS operations from the office and has overall responsibility for DST and CCS equipment and services planning, costing, and operations.
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. At all times, ensure the welfare of personnel and the protection of our assets and the environment.
  • Responsible to the Completions Engineering Supervisor for all HSE aspects of DST/CCS design and operations.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation and close-out of HSE audits of contractors and their equipment.
  • Provide input in operational risk assessments and HAZOPS.
  • Ensure the formal documentation resulting from any well risk assessment is included in the well test programmes.
  • Experience and demonstratable track record in subsea DST operations planning and support, including development of programme, operational risk assessments, contingency planning, time and cost analysis, after action reviews, well hand-over, DST related rig selection and modifications, rig fluid systems and pit management planning, SSTT systems, TCP, retrievable packer and plugs, well testing and clean-up systems, selection of appropriate tubular running systems, well-bore clean-up technology, well control and detailed trouble shooting and failure investigation.
  • Provide onshore and offshore support to DST/CCS operations.
  • Develop and maintain the well test and CCS injection test programmes.
  • Develop the SIDs for all steps in the programme.
  • Conduct SID reviews with the offshore team and ensure SIDs are issued prior to start of operations.
  • Manage Contracts as the Responsible Engineer for Well Testing Services and CCS injection test services.
  • Ensure all well test & CCS equipment is fit for purpose, appropriately certified and delivered on time.
  • Advise on well testing & CCS modifications to the rig.
  • Assist with the engagement of relevant subcontractors.
  • Understanding of NOPSEMA regulatory frame work and purpose of facility safety case and the well operations management plan.
  • Liaise closely with the completion engineering team to optimise DST and CCS injection test operations.
  • Liaise closely with the offshore operations team prior to, and during operations, including drilling superintendent, offshore drilling supervisors, ops engineers and logistics.
  • Close communication with all members of the completion team



  • Appropriate engineering or science degree, or a demonstratable level of experience-based competence and industry training.
  • Extensive experience in drilling / completions
  • 5 years onshore engineering / planning experience
  • In depth knowledge of DST/TCP services, Surface Well Testing, Well Services, Well Interventions and Offshore Supervision.
  • Proactive.

  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Required to travel offshore when required - rig visits and well test preparations and operations
  • 12 months contract
  • Monday to Friday - 8 hours per day
