Brunel is currently searching for a hard rock, Sr. Mine Engineer for direct hire with our client in upstate New York. This position will be based on a mine site located approximately 10 miles from the town of Gouverneur, New York.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execution of tasks related to various fields of mine design & layout, long term & short-term planning, geotechnical, special projects and an emphasis on mine ventilation design & monitoring;
  • Develop and update mine plans to keep operations on budget targets and within the long-range plan.
  • Track progress of mine designs, ventilation and ground support ensuring accuracy;
  • Provide technical support for all aspects of Mine Operations including u/g monitoring for ventilation and geotechnical purposes;
  • Spearhead Deswik changeover from Promine and Vulcan and train team in Deswik as needed;
  • Analyzing and making recommendations on mine operating performance, ways to improve performance, promoting operating/capital costs reductions, reducing waste and operational delays;
  • Facilitate mining studies and technical reports as required for sustaining and capital projects;
  • Coordinate all production and engineering activities which will include backfill, ventilation, utilities (air, water, power), QA/QC, ground support engineering;
  • Work collaboratively with mine operations and geology department and assist other functional areas to achieve their objectives, and to ensure safe and efficient mine operations;
  • Communicate effectively with direct supervisor, Geology and Production departments;
  • Will have up to 4 direct reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA degree in Mining, Geological, or Civil Engineering
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Consideration may be given for TN Visa.
  • 7-10 years of experience in underground mine engineering, open pit experience desired, hard rock required
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Experience with 3D modeling and mine planning software Deswik is essential.
  • Proficiency in use of VentSim 3-D Mine Ventilation, Vulcan, AutoCAD, and PROMINE preferred
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication (in English), critical thinking, data analysis
