Brunel Australasia are currently recruiting for a Tax Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global Oil & Gas industry leader, working from their operations in the heart of Melbourne.

A short term role for approximately 4 months. This role has primary responsibility for FBT Compliance and Advisory in Aus, as well as GST and WHT advisory and some compliance support for PNG. Responsibilities include identifying and managing tax risks; ensuring the business comply efficiently with regulatory requirements; and identify opportunities to improve the overall indirect tax position.
A significant focus of the role will be participating in project and change management work, in response to both regulatory and process changes.Responsible for calculating, preparing and submitting tax returns. Advises about business plans and investment opportunities. Provides guidance about taxation legislation. Streamlines and minimizes tax liabilities and liaises with the revenue, customs and excise departments, where applicable. Moderate to minimal work direction needed, highly skilled and knowledgeable on commercial or business subject matter expertise.

  • Ability to translate complex tax issues into general terms
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in professional practice; a similar commercial role; or with a revenue authority.
  • Must have the relevant undergraduate qualifications, with post-graduate qualifications in a relevant field desirable.
  • Previous experience with SAP and/or financial or taxation systems; interest and exposure to tax technology and data analytics would be beneficial.
