Brunel Australia has partnered with one of Australia’s leading Oil & Gas Operators, to successfully recruit and place a suitable Technical Safety Engineer. The Technical Safety Engineer will be responsible for preparing, planning, organising and facilitating Process Safety Risk Management studies. This is am exiting role and involves the participation in key risk management decisions.

Roster: Perth Based (Monday to Friday)10 Month Contract - Immediate Start

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of Process Safety Risk Management Studies Plan
  • Planning, organization and facilitation of Process Safety Risk Management Studies (HAZIDs, PHA/HAZOPs, QRAs, ALARP Workshops, etc
  • Ensure that risks are managed in a timely manner
  • Participation in key risk management decisions for the operated asset/ facility/ operation
  • Communication of risk management outcomes to key stakeholders and Technical Safety Lead
  • Leads verification of quality closure of risk study recommendations
  • Work with Operation leadership team to develop risk identification and management skills to enable leaders conduct quality engagements with employees to collectively identify and manage risk in the workplace
  • Provide active support to the Technical Safety Lead to facilitate effective coordination of risk management initiatives with ABU, including consequence modelling tools such as Canary.
  • Assist the Technical Safety Lead in developing new tools or improving existing tools in the technical safety risk management area including templates for hazard registers, Major Hazard Facilities Reports, Safety Reports etc. Assist with the roll out and training into the use of the new/ improved risk management tools
  • Assure that other processes such as MOC, DevMan manages the identified risks in a timely manner
  • Support MOC, PSSR and other Assurance activities during times of peak load



Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Technical Safety Experience. 
  • Level of experience in planning, organising and executing Process Safety Risk Management Studies - including the Facilitation of PHA/SOA and HAZOP/LOPA. 
  • Experience in the development of Risk Management tools and processes including Safety Case and Safety Reports. 
  • Requires in depth understanding of the process Safety Risk Management Process in combination with a good risk engineering/safety practitioner background.
  • Coaching / Mentoring / Training of Operations personnel in all aspects of Process Safety with a particular focus on Risk Management and it's associated tools and Processes.
  • Ability to Communicate with all levels of the Organisation from Front-Line Operations to Senior Management.  Proven ability to Influence decision makers to achieve business outcomes.
  • Candidate will interact with Operations, Project Engineering, Commissioning and Startup, Production, Maintenance, Information Systems, HES, and Facilities Engineering teams.  As such, the individual will need to have good interface management skill.
