Brunel is searching for a Vice President of Operations to help lead and grow an exciting, dynamic, and internationally-minded offshore energy company. The VP of Operations will be working on very exciting new constructions projects and will manage the scheduling, planning, maintenance and execution of all shipyard projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform systematic review of guidelines, standards and regulations to ensure compliance with company Safety Management System.
  • Provide guidance on the examination and test plan for new-building activities according to shipbuilding specification, IMO Conventions and B.V. Rules.
  • Coordinate activities and approvals with compliance and regulatory bodies (ABS, USCG, etc.) and develop solid working relationships with these teams.
  • Work with the project lead to prepare and present monthly executive review which accurately portrays project status, issues with mitigation plans, financial health, schedule compliance in addition to identifying signs of risk to the project's success
  • Meet daily with the project team, to review open issues, actions required in support of cost and schedule, identifying and tracking items which may impact cost and or schedule, while maintaining the Daily Actions Log.



Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in project management, preferably within the offshore oil & gas industry, shipbuilding, or other offshore industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture is a plus.
  • Strong detail orientation and project planning capabilities.
  • Knowledge of International classing society rules (i. e. ABS, DNVGL) and standards (i. e. ISO 9001, IMO IMDG code)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team (customers, developers, testers, business analysts, managers, executives, etc.) at all levels.
  • Advanced decision-making skills and exercises good judgment regarding when and how to escalate issues.

Preferred Requirements

  • Ideally, bilingual with Spanish
  • Project Management Professional Certification a plus
