Brunel have partnered with a leading International OEM to successfully recruit and place a suitably qualified Workshop Supervisor to support our Client’s team in Port Hedland in a permanent full-time position.

This position is accountable to establish, develop, maintain and supervise a group of skilled resources able to undertake fabrication and multidiscipline repair services in the company’s North West Region workshop and/or at client mine and port facilities.

You will manage and provide leadership for the workforce. Provide expert quality inspection services for fabrication work being undertaken in the company’s workshop, at the workshops of subcontractors and at client sites. And contribute to a profitable service business in the North West Region of Western Australia

  • Responsible for the daily productivity, job performance, quality, safety and coordination of resources both personnel and plant.
  • Supervise all aspects of preparation and execution of jobs.
  • Ensure personnel adequately informed of allocated job / task requirements and comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure personnel maintain standard of work done by personnel in maintenance, cut, weld, gouge and grind materials as required by the job.
  • Undertake maintenance of workshop equipment and report faults and improvements as required.
  • Provide and maintain schedule, estimating and planning details for all work in progress in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Relay information to the Coordinator on job progress and scheduling to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • To identify and resolve variations to product work scope.
  • Ensure all working documentation is maintained and correctly identified to enable documentation to be readily available when required.
  • Maintain relevant records to ensure compliance with company management system and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure contractual requirements are met both operational and administrative.
  • Ensure the workshop team operates safely and is competent and sufficiently trained to operate equipment and tooling. Prepare or examine blueprints, sketches, drawings or specifications to determine methods, sequence of activities for the maintenance or fabrication or work as requested.
  • Work In Progress - Relay information to the Coordinator regarding WIP to ensure productivity and budget compliance.
  • Procure items required for workshop and shut down jobs.
  • Assist North West Services Manager in seeking and converting job opportunities for the workshop and creating and maintaining existing client relationships.
  • Inspect manufactured/fabricated parts to drawings
  • Review and approve Inspection, Test Plans, and Weld Procedures as required.
  • Monitor subcontractors’ performance to ensure compliance with the contract, drawings and specifications.
  • Assist the Quality Department
  • Safety Management
  • Hold regular tool box meetings with staff and communicate required information. Attend and actively participate in weekly production meetings.
  • Perform daily prestart meetings
  • Ensure the workshop team operates safely and is competent and sufficiently trained to operate equipment and tooling.
  • Ensure compliance with Company and Client Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Be responsible for personal health and safety, and for that of other persons who may be affected by acts or omissions.
  • Immediately rectify (if possible) and notify management of any actual or potential safety, quality or environmental incident, hazard or occurrence.
  • Identify and report nonconforming or potentially hazardous systems, work practices, products, services, equipment and places.
  • Perform daily tasks as a BMW when not engaged in supervisory tasks
  • Adhere to requirements stipulated in the Company Approval Catalogue.
  • Any other task as identified and instructed by the line manager.



This is a very hands-on role with the majority of the time on the tools within the workshop. To be successful in this role, you will need to come from a welding/fabrication background. And you should possess the following:

  • Formal trade qualifications in Engineering and relevant workshop/site experience.
  • WA Drivers Licence – Class C.
  • Safety Leadership for Supervisors qualification
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in general fabrication and welding technology.
  • Experience in the fabrication and installation of large dimensioned and heavy components.
  • Supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Some experience in the organization of service and maintenance.
